From the Campaign Trail: Shannon Taylor Meets with Faith Leaders Across Virginia’s First Congressional District
Taylor met with pastors and faith leaders from across VA-01 to hear their concerns
HENRICO, Va. — During October, Shannon Taylor, Henrico County’s top prosecutor and candidate for Congress in Virginia’s First Congressional District, held meetings in Montross, Ashland, Gloucester, and Williamsburg with pastors and faith leaders from across the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula, Richmond, and Williamsburg areas to hear their concerns and share her plans on how she’s going to lower costs for families and end the corruption in Washington.
“I’m grateful to the pastors and faith leaders who took the time to talk with me about what matters most to their congregations. I heard about families who can’t keep up with rising costs, farmers who are barely holding on, and neighbors losing their healthcare coverage,” said Shannon Taylor. “None of this is an accident. Rob Wittman allowed for the tariffs and the war in Iran that are driving up prices and he voted for massive Medicaid cuts that have been devastating for healthcare access and affordability. Too many politicians go to Congress and forget the people who sent them there. I’m going to fight to undo the damage, end the corruption in Washington, and lower costs for families.”
“Every day, I meet with members of my congregation worried about getting the healthcare they need, paying for gas, and keeping up with their bills. I was grateful for the opportunity to share these concerns with Shannon earlier this month,” said Rev. Darryl E. Fisher, Supervisor of Westmoreland County and Pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church. “After more than 30 years on the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors, including nearly a decade serving with Rob Wittman, I am disappointed to see that he has failed to lower costs and instead supported policies that further hurt our community. I stand with Shannon Taylor and her plan to make life more affordable for Virginians.”
